The team is proud to support local communities and content creators through the stories we tell and content we create. Through the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) funding, the Local Content team provides production grants, training, mentorship, live streaming and distribution opportunities to diverse filmmakers and content creators in BC and Alberta.

We distribute these stories to over one million customers as well as to audiences online. We are focused on empowering underrepresented organizations, communities and individuals, empowering them to tell their stories through our STORYHIVE and Community Content programs.

We are a team of highly skilled, diverse and passionate professionals dedicated to creating a space that amplifies storytellers’ voices and is free of barriers so all communities in BC and Alberta have access to create, distribute and discover stories that matter to them. Expertise of our team is built by folks who bring a variety of identities and lived experiences, as well as professional experience in film/TV production, marketing, community building, equity and more.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

The Senior Program Manager will focus on the strategic direction and operations of our STORYHIVE Summer Crew, Livestreaming and Editions programs for our Local Content portfolio. Working closely with the Manager of STORYHIVE and Community Content, our STORYHIVE Program Managers as well as community content creators, you will design, facilitate and launch program strategies for our annual STORYHIVE Summer Crew and Editions programs.
You’ll also help us establish a Community Content Livestreaming strategy and continue to evolve our current roster of livestreaming partners by developing and nurturing partnerships with internal Territory Managers and external community partners to support content creation and distribution. You will use industry and community research and identify opportunities to deliver differentiated outreach and community programming solutions in alignment with the CRTC and Local Content priorities.

Here’s how
  • Lead the strategic direction of the STORYHIVE Summer Crew Program, based on program design and lessons learned from the pilot
  • Collaborate closely with our Finance, Regulatory and STORYHIVE team members to identify serving areas and content required from each program
  • Support all corporate elements of the project including a privacy, security and records retention review
  • Work closely with Marketing and Digital for recruiting crew members through social campaigns, website intake, etc.
  • Hire external partners to support various elements of the program including editing, moderating, training, etc.
  • Lead the onboarding activities for all summer crews.
  • Work in partnership with the Local Content Training Prime to ensure all crews have completed the necessary training sessions prior to livestreaming.
  • Facilitate weekly crew meetings to review updates, discuss lessons learned and next steps
  • Review production plans, expense requests and adhoc inquiries from the crew
  • Provide coaching, support and inspiration to crew members to ensure successful delivery of quality community content
  • Lead and evolve the strategic direction of the STORYHIVE Editions program, based on program design and lessons learned from previous Editions
  • Develop, design and execute the Local Content Livestreaming strategy with the support of the Local Content Territory Managers
  • Manage inquiries and coordinate livestreaming content with Territory Managers, finalize contracts and work directly with the marketing/ingest coordinator to ensure the successful broadcast of all livestreaming content.
  • Share regular update reports to leadership team

  • Demonstrated track record of engaging community through capacity building, grants and leading community boards
  • Known for building trust and connection within the local TV and film industry through community building strategies and practices Known for your ability to project manage and work in a highly-collaborative and cross-functional setting
  • Recognized for your strong all-around communication expertise (including experience communicating directly with senior leadership), with a keen ability to form and sell ideas and influence outcomes
  • Valued for your leadership in developing and executing strategy and develop creative solutions where challenges are presented
  • Commitment to supporting storytellers and stories from traditionally underrepresented communities including BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, persons with disabilities, women and new Canadians
  • Deeply passionate about equity, diversity and inclusion, and open to incorporating inclusive best practices into work every day
  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in journalism an asset
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience in TV and Film production an asset
  • Experience supporting the execution of strategies
