 Radio Frequency (RF) Designer

Rogers is investing in our service expansion plans and will be growing our Network team to support a number of initiatives to extend our wireless network reach to more costumers and businesses nationally. This position, reporting to the Manager, Wireless Access Network Expansion, will provide technical experience in coverage and capacity planning against Service Expansion Plans for rural and underserved communities as well as in and out of footprint greenfield projects.

•Assist in developing design guidelines, devise new approaches, conduct Service Expansion technical studies and improve standard engineering processes.
•Collaborate with Business teams, Regional Planning, Network Implementation and Engineering teams to communicate priorities, suppOrt, and guidance for Rogers RFP teams to ensure timely delivery of planned programs and RFP submissions.
•Conduct studies for special projects
•Develop and analyze alternatives to recommend the most economical solution to meet departmental and organizational objectives regarding network service expansion, subscriber growth and usage patterns.
•Responsible for assisting in establishing design guidelines and review of outsourced RF Engineering Deliverables
•Work effectively with equipment and service vendors and provide executive level professional presentations of engineering results and recommendations

•Must have Professional Engineer designation with 3 years of work experience in a wireless environment
•Highly effective designer & strong communicator with strong understanding of the LTE and 5G RAN (Radio Access Network), and Radio wireless network design
•Strong understanding of radio propagation principles including, but not limited to the following bands; 800MHz, 1900MHz, AWS, 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz. Well versed on industry standards, LTE, 5G, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), Wireless Private Networks (WPN)
•Good theoretical understanding of Tx/Rx Radio and Antenna system design
•Extensive experience with macro site and small cell design and implementation
•Work proficiently with Mentum PlanetEV RF Planning tool, Geo location, crowdsourcing tools. Advanced knowledge of MapInfo, Power BI and other mapping and analytics tools
•Thorough understanding and extensive experience of RF radiation safety and Canada SC6 standard
•Experience with performance monitoring, understanding of network KPIs and network optimization

•Education experience should include a post-secondary education, Bachelor of Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering preferably.
