IT Business Analyst - 041021

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior IT Manager of Enterprise and Technology Strategy, the successful candidate will be involved in leading and contributing to various initiatives and projects focusing on but not limited to Client Information Systems, Office 365, and Human Capital Management.  In this role, you will deliver solutions that meet business objectives, while serving as a primary facilitator between the business and IT to understand and translate business needs. As a business analyst, you will analyze, resolve and explain system and business process issues and related inquiries as they arise. Partnering with business teams, you will lead the planning, analysis, validation of requirements, business processes, solution designs, testing, and user groups.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Acting Project Manager for small to large-scale initiatives
  • Facilitate problem-solving discussions and requirements gathering sessions with business users and subject matter experts
  • Provide support to project management, development and testing teams
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with the business and IT as required
  • Develops documentation from project inception to post-delivery
  • Lead in various phases of the project life cycle including requirements, design sessions, system testing, implementation, and end user training
  • Work with management in communicating and addressing system issues and road blocks
  • Effectively manage internal customer expectations
  • Represent IT on operational readiness to ensure the solution life cycle is sustainable
  • Provide project resourcing recommendations to the management team
  • Act as a conduit between IT and the business
  • Adheres to the business specified control procedures, policies and procedures
  • Contributing to project planning and control, including estimating and planning specific tasks, providing direction and guidance to users, assigning tasks with reasonable deadlines and ensuring adherence to defined schedules
  • Assume additional duties as required
  • Coordinating specific assigned systems development and implementation activities, including the preparation of user requirements definitions, systems analysis, and general detailed design documents and the development of prototyping and implementation
  • Reviewing and evaluating the results of program and systems testing with team members, end-users and vendors
  • Developing working relationships with key staff
  • Remains current with technologies and methodologies
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years as a Business Analyst or Project Lead in IT
  • University degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or combination of relevant education and experience
  • A completed Business Analyst Certificate or PMP Certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of application and system development life cycles including planning, requirement, analysis, design, build, testing, implementation and post-implementation activities
  • Outgoing, personable, responsible, self-motivated, and confident
  • Proven experiencing working on large scale projects, as well as smaller business initiatives
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Able to grasp and translate technical concepts, to think independently, and to take initiative required to resolve issues
  • Able to participate in multiple projects and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with individuals at various levels of the business
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting priorities and deliverables
  • Experience in healthcare would be an asset
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • A strong negotiator who can optimize results that are a win/win for all stakeholders
  • Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis and develop business cases
  • Knowledge of modeling techniques and methods
  • Able to accept feedback and act on it
  • Proficient in MS Project, Excel, Word, Visio, Power Point, Outlook and able to learn new technologies quickly
  • Experience and ability to work with Project Leaders, vendors and end users to assess application technology and needs in order to recommend appropriate solutions
  • Training and experience in business process re-engineering
  • Knowledge of interfaces, network structures and database terminology
  • Knowledge of various Project management and Business Analysis Frameworks, methodologies, best practices, tools, e.g. Water fall, Agile, Elicitation and Collaboration, Strategy Analysis etc.
  • Strong Interpersonal, time management, organizational, negotiation and presentation skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours on occasion as required
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and confirm user requirements.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, ideas, and business initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of and experience implementing within regulatory requirements, best practices and industry standards including PHIPA, PIPEDA, ITIL is an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset
  • SCRUM certification is an asset
