Platform Developer

Description of Work:
The Platform Developer position works alongside our data science and data analyst teams to build AI/ML services and pipelines. Workloads are primarily python-based applications deployed in a GCP cloud environment. Additionally, this role is responsible for maintaining the operational functionality of the platform and its components.

This role requires the creation of new Data and AI service patterns, APIs and integrations, as well as updates and improvements on existing applications. Strong communication & technology skills are required to interface with centralized technology and security groups, as well as other developers and data scientists. The Platform Developer provides input to design, implementation and the ongoing support of the platform actively facilitating continuous improvement

-Designs, codes, unit tests and integrates new features and functionality as defined by the PO and team
-Builds APIs and data solutions to drive Data and AI Platform projects
-Applying combined practices of continuous integration and either continuous delivery or continuous deployment. Create pipelines that build code, run tests(CI) and safely deploy a new version of the application (CD)
-Assists in the development of automated tests harnesses as necessary to ensure delivery of high-quality code
-Supports one or more applications and helps business achieve goals by evaluating and modifying said applications to meet customer needs; usually serves as SME
-Provides basic tech support to resolve problems, determine root cause and/or escalate
-Partners with business and IT peers to construct and operate built-for-use platforms

Required Skills and Experience:
-Backend programming experience (Python/Flask) and Web services/API experience (RESTful)
-Experience working with CICD Pipelines (e.g. GitLab CI, Circle CI, Jenkins etc.)
-Experience working with Cloud Technologies/Platforms (Compute Engines, PubSub, Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, etc.)
-Source code management - appropriately using version-control tools and best practices
-Application design - defining how an application will work and what features and components it will have
-Understanding of best practices regarding securing data, data privacy and regulation
-Application maintenance and monitoring - including application support, assessment, troubleshooting, modifications, performance improvement, and security
-Strong communication skills both written and verbal to explain technical issues regarding all supported applications

--Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent
-Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages (including but not limited to: java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
-3-5 years of experience
