KPMG Canada is looking to hire an experienced Product Manager with a strong technical background to join Ignition Tax.
The Project Manager – Ignition Tax is responsible for all aspects of project management through an agile software development life cycle of a new and progressing software system being built to fundamentally disrupt the way business has been done in the past.
The Project Manager should communicate and manage ongoing risks to the appropriate groups and take action to remove blockers to development, testing and other project activities.
Service providers, the Project Manager will advance the project and ensure a high-quality product is developed on time, within project budget, and to the defined scope.
The Project Manager will also work within the scrums to ensure the concerns of the business, voiced by the product team, are heard and actioned while tracking the progress of the development team and designers to realize the product vision.
The Project Manager will contribute to Ignition Tax’s PM best practices and provide input towards the internal learning, helping to improve the way projects are managed by your peers.
What you will do
Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines
Develops project plans within project sprints and manages sprints to those plans
Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and
communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams
Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization
Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective
Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project execution
Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
What you bring to the role
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of product or project development experience, or 3 years of project development experience on an Agile Team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies and methods
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and running scrum teams
Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
Strong analytical and synthesis skills, including the ability to translate metrics and analytics into actionable information
Strong knowledge of SDLC and prior success in working with agile development teams; technical capability and a track record in software development combined with experience in the leadership of software development teams and delivery of projects within a software development environment
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Azure
Proficient in productivity applications – e.g. Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Familiarity with technical tax issues, accounting standards, and emerging technologies as well as building technology in a tax environment seen as an asset
