Business Analyst III

The role
The BMA Senior Business Analyst role supports the BMA Department by supporting programs, projects and initiatives in BMA within the TOPS (Technology, Operations, Product & Supply Chain) team by ensuring overall processes, systems and infrastructure are efficient and aligned with business direction.  
As part of the role, you will collaborate with people across multiple business units and functional departments to define, develop and deploy technology solutions to address key business objectives.  Senior Business Analysts collaborate with business stakeholders & technical teams (internal & vendor) to develop effective solutions and ensure alignment and joint accountability for successful achievement of capital and operational initiatives.  
You will be accountable for:
  • Understanding business goals & objectives
  • Understanding/defining current & future state
  • Collaborating on scope definition
  • Eliciting & defining requirements
  • Definition of acceptance criteria (including user acceptance criteria & initiative quality/metrics/KPI’s)
  • Collaborating on solution definition (with a commitment to exceptional internal & external customer experience)
  • Review test cases/test plans
  • Relationship building
  • Creating stakeholder aligned understanding
  • Scope & Requirements Prioritization
  • Collaborating on road mapping and sequencing of work
  • Supporting solution rollout & related OCM activities.
A typical day
  • Daily team stand-up to discuss status, progress & blockers
  • Understanding/define initiative goals & objectives
  • Learning and defining current state & desired future state
  • Active participation in managing scope churn to balance changing business needs and delivery capabilities:
    • Identify gaps in the end-to-end business and system features
    • Identify and articulate the trade-offs
  • Defining & evaluating initiative metrics & KPI’s
  • Collaborate with business & technology stakeholders eliciting & defining initiative requirements, creating aligned understanding, defining & negotiating solution definition
  • Write, edit & review epics & user stories, backlog grooming in Jira
  • Road mapping, release planning, sprint planning, work prioritization & sequencing
  • Participate in software showcases & sprint retrospectives
  • Frequent meetings & ad-hoc communication (face to face and over the phone/online collaboration tool).
  • Stakeholder analysis
  • Gap & impact analysis
  • Creating business & system process maps
  • Completing required initiative governance documentation
  • Provide content for leadership presentations regarding initiatives
  • Provide content for release notes, user training materials and OCM
  • Utilize LEAN and Agile methodology to streamline work processes and realize cost and resource efficiencies
  • Perform other duties, as needed.
Your skills/experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in business analysis, working in an IT environment
  • Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Excellent analytical, logical, and creative problem-solving skills
  • IIBA Certification (ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, ECBA+) or a business analysis certificate is an asset
  • Experience applying Lean Business Analysis techniques is an asset
  • Experience on an Agile software development team is an asset
  • Exceptional organizational, planning and negotiation skills
  • Experience eliciting and writing requirements (business/functional/non-functional) for IT projects in a multi-system environment
  • Experience working with senior level management and business stakeholders to develop business requirements and gain consensus regarding approach
  • Strong understanding of dynamic business environments and business drivers
  • Self-motivated; demonstrated ability to deliver under pressure while maintaining high standards of excellence and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate clearly in a variety of situations and tailor that communication, by adjusting style, method and tools, to the needs of the audience
  • Ability to quickly learn new business and technical concepts
  • Demonstrates solid analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates strong ability to develop strategic relationships across the board in a collaborative environment
