Geospatial Analyst:

As part of the Service Expansion organization, you will be the geospatial lead responsible for the development and ongoing management of all data sources, models and analysis related to network expansion for Connected Home.
The successful candidate must have an unwavering attention to detail, an insatiable desire to find answers, tolerance for data ambiguity, and a proven track record of working with large, complex datasets within a geospatial framework. The position requires an understanding of geospatial technologies and experience working with large spatial databases. An understanding of telecommunications networks is also an asset.

What you will be doing:
  • Proactively identify, source and develop the data sources, that support evaluation and prioritization of network expansion programs and area assessments to best guide capital investment decisions
  • Leverage web-mapping applications to create maps and highlight spatial insights
  • Support analytical development priorities acting as a liaison between the GIS team and various cross-functional groups
  • Filter, clean and transform data into information, insight, and actionable business decisions using geospatial ETL tools
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and create aggregate datasets as necessary
  • Develop and manage proof of concepts (POCs)
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and provide recommendations and insight
What you bring:
  • Post-secondary education in Mathematics, Statistics, Information Management, Computer Science or Geographic Sciences
  • At least 3-5 years in a similar role
  • Knowledge of telecommunication networks an asset
  • Advanced GIS software knowledge; e.g., MapInfo, QGIS, etc…
  • Experience with geospatial ETL software; e.g., FME
  • Experience creating layers and customizing Web Applications; e.g., MapGuide Open Source and PHP
  • Highly refined analytical, and programming skills
  • Must have proficiency in SQL and experience working with Oracle databases
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Solid relationship building and influencing skills, with a proven ability to work within a team
  • Self-starter with proven organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Exceptional planning and project management skills
  • Strong sense of ownership, drive and desire
