National Planning team in Surrey is currently seeking a CAD Operator to join their team.
Reporting to the Manager, National Planning the successful candidate will be accountable for the preparation and maintenance of technical fibre and coaxial cable information.
Receive and modify drawing from developers and municipalities
Identify equipment in the field that can be effectively used for planning, documenting and quality control.
Draft proposed projects according to Shaw standards and specifications
Distribute completed designs to the appropriate Shaw departments and projects consultants to ensure our
requirements are adequately met
Utilize AutoCAD for all CAD design, permits and application drawings
Maintain recorded technical project information on a shared CAD system to ensure our interests are recorded
Assist Planning team in compiling and reporting monthly equipment statistics
Produce construction drawing for all new, upgrade and relocating coaxial and fiber distribution facilities
Various other duties as needed
Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Degree/diploma in a CAD or engineering related course complemented by 1 to 3 years work experience in coaxial
and fiber optic cable design is considered an asset
Experience with AutoCAD and working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office
Understanding of civil construction would be considered an asset
Ability to use a GPS and laser for geospatial locating and measurement of utility structures
Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimum supervision
Team player with excellent communication skill both written and verbal
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task with attention to detail
Highly motivated with the ability to work within a team environment
A positive “can do” attitude and customer focused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity
