Sr. UX Interaction Designer - Toronto

Our client is looking for a Senior UX Interaction Designer who gets excited creating industry-leading, easy-to-use experiences which works equally well on a variety of web and mobile interfaces. You’ll be working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. You strive for continuous improvement by helping others develop, share and learn about visual design.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in both the strategic and tactical elements of user-centered design.

At a strategic level, you must possess the business acumen and relationship building skills to drive a clear and consistent Web user experience across multiple web properties. At a tactical level, you must be able to create simple yet engaging designs to solve complex interaction problems. You must also possess an excellent grasp of the interplay between business, technical and customer needs within the Web context. And strive for continuous improvement by helping others develop, share and learn about UX.

Responsibilities:
You will lead the design for a variety of digital initiatives. In particular, you will be expected to:
• Apply user-centered design processes, human factors, usability heuristics, industry best practices to develop world class Web experiences for all screens sizes, from large to small
• Build relationships and networks across multiple teams to help deliver a consistently superior digital user experience for our client
• Take the lead on usability efforts. Design and carry out field observations, task analysis, usability testing, competitive analysis, stakeholder and user
• Help mentor and develop other UX team members
• Promote UX standards and evangelize the importance of user-centered design across an enterprise
• Analyze and identify trends in technology, design, customer experience and marketing that can be leveraged to achieve the strategic objectives of our client

Required knowledge & skills:
• Mastery of UCD, IA, interaction design, wireframing and prototyping
• Ability to design responsively across multiple platforms and devices
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organization, logic and analytical skills
• Strong storytelling and outstanding presentation skills
• Skilled at operating within a corporate environment with the ability to network, negotiate and influence people across the organizational hierarchy
• Proven track record in providing the UX vision and strategy for large teams and initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships, motivate and mentor people
Required Professional Designation/Certification:
• A BA, preferably in Human Factors/HCI, Usability Engineering, Industrial Design, Cognitive Science or product design, or related field and/or depth of experience
• A post graduate degree in any one of the above mentioned fields is an asset

Required Experience:
• At least 5-7 years’ experience as a key member of a UX team leading the complete product / Web development lifecycle from planning through to execution

Must have skills:
• At least 5 years’ UX experience
• At least 2 years’ experience as a team lead
• At least 2 years’ experience usability testing

Nice to have skills:

• Previous experience working on an e-commerce website
• WCAG / Accessibility experience
• Outstanding storytelling and presentation skills
