Job Responsibilities/Job Functions:
  • Responsible for the delivery of fibre optic projects in a dynamic environment with varying degrees of complexity, timeframes and capital.
  • Responsible for the design and planning of standard and new optical architecture, considering optical link reach, fibre design efficiency, network reliability, redundancy and scalability.
  • Accurately document fibre details on exiting fibre asset and take all necessary steps to ensure the data integrity of the fibre network is maintained.
  • Provide technical support to system planners and network specialist for the selection of routes, ensuring optimum cost effectiveness and performance of our existing and expanding fibre network.
  • Plan end-to-end fibre solution and/or provide instruction to support staff and engineering contractors for the successful delivery of plan.
  • Review business requirements and engineering plans engineering and deliver accurate and reliability fibre solution.
  • Manage existing CBU fibre network and provide detailed instructions to technical staff.
  • Ensure projects are completed to engineering spec, planning requirements and delivered on time.
  • Review, manage and technically approve plans prepared up by contractors.
  • Interpret OTDR/CD/PMD traces, loss measurements and other fibre characterization specifications for circuit acceptance.
  • Provide fibre network design alternatives and assist in optimizing fibre network capability.
  • Prepare fibre cost estimates (FERs) and produce CAs, BOM and POs for in cable territory projects.
  • Develop and execute large project plans, including risk, scope, communication and schedules.
  • Plan, monitor, and control projects from concept to closing using appropriately scaled methodology.
  • Interpret business requirements for timely and appropriate project delivery.

Job Qualifications:
  • A university degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years progressive experience managing infrastructure projects such as core application upgrades, Internet and Extranet development, network and telecom infrastructure deployments within a professional services organization.
  • Minimum 3 years progressive experience within Fibre Architecture, HFC Networks with hands on technology exposure.
  • Experience managing projects of varying size and complexity, which could include fibre network relocates, POP site moves, new system implementations, upgrades or migrations across various environments, managed services and/or technology or tools deployment. Exposure to executing projects across a physically distributed environment along with strong vendor management experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills to negotiate resources, changes, issues, budgets and timelines.
  • Proactive approach to working on skeleton plan for upcoming projects.
  • Ability to optimize available resources to deliver business objectives and maximize business efficiency.
  • Ability to adapt to the requirements of the assignment and make appropriate changes in style as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to match content, style and language to suit the audience and context, maximizing understanding.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, motivational, organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to direct, influence and inspire others to optimize performance and achieve goals.
